ADHD Assessment for Adults in Preston
Are you struggling with focus, organisation, or feeling like you're constantly playing catch-up? Many adults with ADHD weren't diagnosed as children – their symptoms were overlooked or put down to anxiety, stress, or simply "not trying hard enough."
At ADHD Assessment and Treatment, we provide comprehensive private ADHD assessments for adults in Preston and throughout Lancashire. Our experienced clinicians follow NICE guidelines to deliver accurate diagnoses, giving you the clarity you need to move forward.
Common signs of ADHD in adults include: difficulty finishing tasks, chronic procrastination, problems with time management, losing things frequently, restlessness, impulsive decisions, and feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands.
A diagnosis can be life-changing – bringing clarity, access to treatment, and the understanding to finally stop blaming yourself.
The fee for a full diagnostic assessment is £595.

What are the signs of ADHD in adults?
Adult ADHD often looks quite different from the childhood version. The most common signs include persistent difficulty sustaining attention on tasks, especially those that are routine or unstimulating, alongside a tendency to lose things, miss deadlines, or forget appointments.
Many adults with ADHD struggle with disorganisation and poor time management - frequently underestimating how long tasks will take or jumping between tasks without finishing them. Impulsivity is another hallmark: interrupting conversations, making hasty decisions, or acting without thinking through consequences. Emotional dysregulation is increasingly recognised as a key feature, including low frustration tolerance, quick mood shifts, and sensitivity to rejection. Hyperactivity in adults tends to be more internal - a constant sense of restlessness, racing thoughts, or difficulty relaxing - rather than the obvious physical restlessness seen in children.
Many adults also experience hyperfocus, where they become intensely absorbed in something interesting to the point of losing track of time entirely, which can seem contradictory but is a well-documented part of the condition.
If several of these patterns are persistent, pervasive across different areas of life, and have been present since childhood, they may be worth discussing with a GP or specialist.
